The Galaxy Fold Is Back: Here’s What Samsung Fixed

When the Galaxy Fold’s launch was delayed indefinitely due to durability concerns, many thought Samsung’s $2,000 bendable phone was dead in the water. Some folks like Apple enthusiast John Gruber even proclaimed that the Fold “is never going to ship and everyone knows it.” Read More >>

Bloomberg reported on Tuesday that South Korean hardware giant Samsung has finally figured out how to keep its £1,800 Galaxy Fold bendable smartphones from going haywire as soon as they land in the hands of users, and though it is in the “final stages” of the redesign it still doesn’t know when sales will resume. Despite All the Problems, the 5G Galaxy Fold is Still Coming

When Samsung announced the Galaxy Fold back in February (!), we were told that there would be two different versions of the phone. One with 4G, that most people can use, and another with 5G that will be suitable for, like, five people. We haven't heard anything about the 5G model since, which shouldn't be a shock given all the shit Samsung has had to deal with the past couple of months. But it's still coming. Read More >>

Apparently Samsung Won’t Release the Galaxy Fold in June Either

The Galaxy Fold has not had a great debut. For those of you who've been living under a rock, the phone was supposed to start shipping in the US at the end of April but got postponed after review models started malfunctioning. Evidently the phone's design allowed debris under the screen which caused a lot of issues, and led to Samsung putting the Galaxy Fold on hold while it fixed the problem. It was never clear when the phone would arrive, but now a report claims the phone won't start shipping during June. Read More >>

A New Galaxy Fold Release Date Will be Decided This Week, Says Samsung

Poor Samsung. It made such a big deal about the Galaxy Fold and what that meant for the smartphone industry, and then it turned out that things were going very wrong with some of the screens they handed out to the press. It was at the point where Samsung even told customers it wasn't sure when the phone would arrive, and was prepping them for the possibility of their order being cancelled. But things are looking up, because the company has revealed it will be deciding on a new release date later this week. Samsung is Cancelling Galaxy Fold Orders, Unless You Insist You Still Want One

Oh Samsung, you're not having a good year. After all the hype surrounding the Galaxy Fold, it turns out they're not really up to scratch. Issues with review unit displays forced Samsung to delay the phone's launch, to the point where we don't really know when they're going to see the light of day. It's now at the stage where Samsung seems to be cancelling pre-orders, unless the customer insists that they're happy to still pay £1,800 and risk the issues with the screen. Read More >>

In Its Race to Be First, Samsung Screwed Itself

The Samsung Galaxy Fold may be an incredible step forward in phone engineering, but it is unfinished. That became clear when, earlier this week, Samsung announced it was delaying the release of the phone. What was available to reviewers, analysts, influencers, and select partners was essentially a beta device — with those same people serving as beta testers. It never should have seen the light of day. The Samsung Galaxy Fold is a Flawed Start to Something Amazing

In a lot of ways, doing a traditional review of the Samsung Galaxy Fold is pointless. Anyone who buys one isn’t doing so because it’s a good value or a sound purchasing decision. It’s not. They’re buying one because it’s new, innovative, and exciting. Besides, pre-orders for the Galaxy Fold have already sold out, so even if you want one, it’s probably too late. And yet, for a product with many flaws, even in its current state, the Galaxy Fold presents a vision that makes a ton of sense, and it’s one of only a handful of gadgets that you can call a game changer and mean it.
